Julie Berry's "Lovely War"

                                     

                          The love stories in this book are amazing. Its about a group of Roman 

gods who get together and watch the lives of humans who are at the beginnings of 

 being in love. The two main male leads are soldiers during WWI and the female are 

 playing at USO-like programs with the YMCA or an organization like that. It has 

 quite a bit of war content in it but mostly love.  During WWII Aphrodite is caught 

 with Ares  by his brother Hephaestus who has a mock trial but then  

 Aphrodite tells them stories of the great love between Hazel and James 

 and also between Aubrey and Collette. She believes that being mortal 

and in love is way better than being a god and beautiful like she is.

She's  envious  of their pure love and thinks the gods she's around are full

of themselves. This book was definitely creative and I love Julie Berry's

writing style. It is definitely a book you will not forget. It is one of those 

books that the love story stays with you for a while.
