"The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane" By Katherine Howe
Connie Goodwin, who is a Harvard grad student, is
asked by her mother to clean out her grandma's house so they
can sale it. Connie knows she needs to study this summer to do
her doctoral dissertation but she helps her mom anyway. While
cleaning out the house she finds an ancient key in the family
Bible that has the name Deliverance Dane written on a piece of
paper. As she tries to find out more about this woman she also
finds a physick book handed down through the generations and
she learns more about Salem. She also learns about her own
past in Salem with the witch trials. Katherine Howe's books
about the witch trials always make me want to learn more. She
has such a way of writing about the past and present in each
book and meshes them together well. I would highly recommend
any of her books, especially for a fun fall read.
