"Joyland" by Stephen King
"Joyland" by Stephen King is probably one of my favorite
books by him. The book is about a boy named Devin who
decides to work at a carnival to make money before he starts off
to college. While he is there the other kids he works with tell him
about how one of the rides is haunted by a girl that was killed
inside the ride. They were always trying to go in there and see
the ghost. He also meets a young woman who is alone and stuck
because she has a sick boy. Devin and the boy become friends
after he sees him every day while walking out by the beach to
go to work. Its kind of ghost story but I also love that it's an
amazing coming of age story about a young man who is broke
and has a broken heart so he decides to go away to work. There
are so many different types of characters in this book and I love
that there is a sweet older lady that lets the kids working at the
carnival stay at her house. It is not the normal Stephen King
book because it is under 300 pages so its an easy read and every
line of it keeps you interested. I would recommend this book
over many of his other ones. The character development is
amazing.
